Herbert Guenther

OBITUARY HERBERT J. GUENTHER Herbert J. Guenther was born on a farm in Leaf Valley Township in Douglas County, Minnesota on November 15, 1925 to Alfred and Mary (Peffer) Guenther. He was baptized and confirmed at the Catholic Church of Seven Dolors in Millerville, MN. He attended Pleasant Grove School District #28 for 8 year and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1944. Herb purchased his dad?s farm in 1964 and did general farming. He became a Leaf Valley Fireman in 1959 and was a fireman for 21 years. He was also a supervisor for Leaf Valley Township for 12 years, and a long time usher at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Millerville. After retiring from farming in 1979 he worked as a carpenter and bartender, and did community work. Herb loved the out-of-doors and took pride in his yard and garden. Herbert and his twin brother, Clifford, were the youngest of the family of 8 children. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Mary, brothers William and Clifford, and sisters Viola, Irene, Frances and Olivia. He is survived by his brother Clarence (Bud) Guenther, sister-in-law Joy Guenther, many nieces and nephews, and special friends Mike and Judy Hanson. Herb lived on this earth for 88 years 3 months 24 days. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 1PM at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Millerville, MN. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 5-7PM with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service at the Anderson Funeral Home and also for one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday.
