Herbert Joseph Haiden was born April 20, 1929 in Millerville, MN to Joseph and Mary (Hermes) Haiden. He attended St. Mary?s Parochial School in Millerville through the eighth grade. Herbert continued to help his father farm and took over in 1950 and retired from active farming around 1994. After retiring he became available to help neighbors and friends when needed. Herbert was a lifelong active member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church who enjoyed helping usher, maintenance and helping with the cemetery. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and held the position of recording secretary for many years. Herbert was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish; and was a member of the Millerville Sportsman Club. Herbert was a simple humble man who was generous in lending a helping hand and had a great sense of humor. In 2007, he took his trip of his life going to Europe, which he really enjoyed. He also enjoyed his Elk hunting trips to Wyoming and Montana. Herbert died on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at his home in Brandon at the age of 82. His is survived by his siblings, Richard (Mae) Haiden of Mason City, IA, Isabelle Barker of St. Cloud, Josephine (Richard) Sperl of Eden Prairie, Jean (Ross) Prout of Encino, CA, and Gerald Haiden of Forest Lake; and 32 nieces & nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Herbert is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary; brothers, James, Matt and Raymond; and sisters, Margaret Anne and Margaret Mary; and nephew, Charles Sperl. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Millerville with Father LeRoy Scheierl officiating. Music was provided by pianist Jane Herth and the Voices of Joy Choir. Inurnment was held in the Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Cemetery. Casket bearers were Mark Haiden, Paul Haiden, Brian Haiden, John Haiden, Brock Dombrovski, Dallas Dombrovski, and Richard Sperl. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
