Herman Felt

August 21, 1925 — February 8, 2015

Carl Herman Felt was born August 21, 1925 in Starbuck, MN, the son of C. Emil and Caroline (Runquist) Felt. Herman was raised in the Starbuck and Glenwood area. In 1943 he graduated from Glenwood High School.
In 1944 Herman joined the United States Army. He served in Okinawa and later in Korea. Following his discharge in 1946 Herman returned to Minnesota where he began as a bank teller at Alexandria State Bank. On July 11, 1948, Herman was united in marriage to Darlene Curran at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria. The couple made their home in Alexandria where they began raising a family.
Herman continued his career in banking. The bank later became Alexandria Bank & Trust and finally became part of Bremer Banks. Herman went from bank teller to Executive Vice President at the bank. After forty-three years with the bank, Herman retired in 1990.
Herman and Darlene enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Herman was a volunteer and enjoyed working and visiting with people. He volunteered his time through a long membership in Kiwanis Club. He also served on the Bethany Home board for over twenty years. Herman was involved as a member of the Jaycees, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and several other boards. He also served as the actuary for Kinkead Cemetery for over fifty years. Being involved with his church was also important to Herman. He served Calvary Lutheran Church in many different ways but his favorite task was working at the annual lutefisk dinner. Very special to Herman and Darlene was their longtime commitment to the Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial Association. Honoring all law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty was Herman’s mission.
Herman was very proud of his sons and he was dedicated to his grandchildren. The one thing Herman cherished most in life was his wife, Darlene and the love they shared. He always was there for her and just loved being with her.
On Sunday, February 8, 2015 Herman died at the age of eighty-nine years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Felt; infant daughter, Linda Ann Felt; son, Curt Felt; granddaughter, Kalley Felt; brother, Roy Felt; and sister, Mildred Stoltenberg.
