OBITUARY Myrtle Elizabeth (Johnson) Van Heuveln was born on December 20, 1910 in Proctor, MN, the daughter of Peter and Beda (Helmer) Johnson. She was united in marriage to Henry Van Heuveln in Willmar, MN on January 5, 1929. During their life together they lived in Fergus Falls briefly and then Montevideo, MN where they raised 5children Ardis, Leona, Barbara, David and Dona. Myrtle was a homemaker who took pride in the way she raised her children and kept her home. She was a good cook and gardener. She liked to do needlework and make quilts for her family. Myrtle also worked as a clerk at different retail stores in Montevideo when her children were in school to help with finances. Myrtle and Henry moved to their home on Big Chippewa Lake after they retired in 1965. Together they enjoyed spending many summers with their grandchildren watching them swim, ski and fish. After Henry?s death Myrtle moved to Spring Lake, MN to be closer to her children and then she moved into the Presbyterian Home of Arden Hills, MN. Myrtle E. Van Heuveln died on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Presbyterian Home of Arden Hills at the age of 100 years old. She is survived by five generations of families, including her children Ardis (Paul) Reed of Newark, Ohio; Leona Kroeger of St. Paul, MN; Barbara (Gerald) Wik of Blaine, MN; David Van Heuveln of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry Van Heuveln; daughter Dona (Palmer) Grinager; grandsons Peter Grinager; David Reed; daughter-in-law Martha Van Heuveln; sisters Lavona Eslinger; Doris Lindvall; Helen Kubat; and Lois Gerke. A funeral service was held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon, MN with the Reverend Dennis Preston officiating and Annette Helder playing the organ. Interment was in the Chippewa Lutheran Cemetery in Brandon, MN. Casket Bearers were Cody McCoy, Debra Curtis, Karen Londgren, Brian Kroeger, Daniel Wik, and Beth Wik.
