Hilma Edith Pipo, age 102, of Kensington, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, February 4th, 2016 at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN. Hilma was born near Wing, North Dakota to Leo and Maria Elkie on August 5, 1913. In 1918 the family moved to Wolf Lake, Minnesota and from there to Urness Township. On May 22, 1948 Hilma married Edwin Adamson, they farmed in Moe Township. After Edwin passed away on October 7, 1960, she married Roy Pipo on February 15, 1964, together they carried on the tradition at the farm. Roy passed away on May 18, 2009, Hilma stayed on the farm until she moved to Sharon’s Senior Services on Rosewood Lane in Alexandria, in November of 2012.
Hilma enjoyed making squeaky cheese, doughnuts and Finnish flatbread. She also liked weaving rugs and playing Chinese checkers and Wahoo with the grandchildren. Hilma was a lifelong member of the Holmes City Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Scott Hegstad and also Val and her staff at Sharon’s Senior Services for the wonderful care given to their mother.
Hilma is preceded in death by her husbands, Edwin Adamson and Roy Pipo; sisters, Lempi, Hilda, Hilja, Hanna (Lizzy), Helmi, Hulda, Hazel and Tina; brother, Leo. She is survived by her sons, Leonard (Kathy) Adamson and Gary (Ida) Adamson; grandchildren, Daniel (Carolyn) Adamson, Janelle Crossfield, Krista Adamson, Lindsey Hall, Megan (Bob) Schlick; great-granddaughter, Isabelle Adamson; many nieces, nephews, friends and a host of brothers and sisters in faith.
