Howard Julius Linser was born on June 28, 1926, in Great Falls, Montana, the son of Julius and Ruth (Stevens) Linser. As a young boy the family moved to Alexandria and Howard graduated from Alexandria High School in 1944. After graduation Howard was enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. He was Honorably Discharged in June of 1947.
After his discharge Howard moved to Langdon, North Dakota where he worked for Burlington Northern Railroad. It is here where he met and married Nola Chaput on June 20, 1953. To this union five children were born. In 1967 Nola and the kids were in a car accident that took her life and son, Kurts also. Howard continued to raise his other four children with good Christian values and was always there for them.
In 1987 Howard retired from Burlington Northern Railroad and moved to Leech Lake. When his father, Julius needed help Howard moved to Garfield to help his father until his death in 2000. He then moved to Backus.
Howard died on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis. He is survived by his four children: Todd Linser, Jay Linser, Kim Linser, Marla (Mark) Waters.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nola; son, Kurt and parents.
