Ilene Woida

Ilene Mary Corcoran was born December 16, 1938 in Hancock, MN, the daughter of William and Mary Corcoran. She was raised in the Sedan and Glenwood area where she attended school. Following her graduation from Glenwood High School Ilene moved to Minneapolis.

Ilene began doing factory work and eventually took a job with Minnesota Rubber. She became a parts and quality inspector at Minnesota Rubber where she worked for thirty years.

While living in Minneapolis she met Wilfred Woida. Ilene and Willie were united in marriage at the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria in 1995. Shortly after their marriage the couple retired and moved to some property that Willie owned near Garfield, MN. They built a home and ran a small hobby farm for the next twenty years. In 2014 Ilene and Willie moved into Alexandria.

Ilene and Willie enjoyed life on their property where Ilene took nature walks and became an avid birdwatcher. She liked to read and loved being able to host large family reunions on their farm. During the month of March Ilene and Willie liked to travel the United States to see new things and visit family and friends.

Ilene was a member of the Eagles and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church where she volunteered her time for the funeral lunches and many other church projects and events.

On Wednesday, March 28, 2018 Ilene died at the age of seventy-nine years. She was preceded in death by her parents; and thirteen brothers and sisters. Ilene is survived by her husband, Willie Woida of Alexandria; two brothers, Bill Corcoran of Minneapolis and Tom Corcoran of Maple Lake, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday with parish prayers beginning at 4 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.
