Jack Roger Kangas was born on March 7, 1933, in rural Brandon, the son of Henry & Stella (Heikkinen) Kangas. He grew up on a farm in Urness Township, attended country school and graduated from Kensington.
Jack joined the Navy on October 12, 1952. He was stationed on the USS Hancock and is a Korean War Veteran.
Jack was united in marriage to the love of his life, Josephine Josephson, on August 4, 1962. They had four children.

He was always willing to lend a hand with any type of project. He taught his children the importance of doing it yourself and instilled in them the value of a dollar. He was a kind and generous man who loved his sweet treats, but not nearly as much as he loved his family and grandchildren.
Jack died on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Sanford in Fargo, ND. He is survived by this wife of almost 60 years Josie, daughter Lynne (Emmy) Kangas, sons Dean Kangas, Kyle (Jennifer) Kangas, and Matt (Alyssa) Kangas.
