Jack Jay Krull

Jack Jay Krull, 72, long time resident of Alexandria, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2024.   

Jack was born April 25, 1952, in the rural Hayfield, Minnesota area, and was the third child and second son of Clarence and Evelyn (Baker) Krull.  Jack was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith in the Dexter church and his unsatiable appetite for reading drew him ever closer to his God all throughout his life. He often told folks in his last week’s here on earth, that he was ready to “go home”.   

He grew up and attended school in the best of times in the Dexter/Elkton, Minnesota area.  He was a good student and loved playing sports at the high school and college level. His teams were more often than not losing, but later in life, his perspective was that those losses taught him invaluable life lessons.   He graduated from Elkton High School in 1970.  He worked for the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Austin, Minnesota while attending college there.  After college he moved to Alexandria and began working with their Waste Water Treatment Plant Environmental Engineers as an operator, as well as picking up numerous other part-time jobs in that area.  The move to Alexandria was a good fit for him and he spent the remainder of his life there on his “hobby farm” where he loved the old-fashioned way of bartering for goods and services, and raised beef cattle and baled hay.  He never lost his love for all animals and wildlife, or his love for music.  He loved playing his guitar and singing and that stayed with him right up to the end. 

His passion was repairing and using his “vintage” tractor collection.  He could repair almost any rusty old thing. He helped his friends and neighbors with small repairs jobs as well, and he was fond of saying, “If you need something fixed in the worst way, call Jack, because that’s exactly how he’ll fix it!”  He was very good storyteller, another lost art in our modern times, and he loved a good joke and shared many a chuckle with family and friends.  

He so enjoyed living his best life in Alexandria, and was a kind and thoughtful soul who cared deeply for the people he surrounded himself with and will be dearly missed by the many lives he’s touched.   

Jack is survived by his sister, Merry (Mark) Monnier of Grand Meadow, MN, his brothers Gene (Linda) Krull of Elkton, MN, Gayle (Cindy) Krull of Gladbrook, IA, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, and many dear, dear friends.   

He is proceeded in death by his parents, his sister Bonnie (Donnie) Stuart, and brother Jeremy Krull. 

In keeping with Jack’s wishes his cremated remains will be buried at The White Garden Cemetery in rural Alexandria with arrangements being made by Anderson Funeral Home of Alexandria.  A graveside service will be held at 3:00 in the afternoon of May 17, 2024.
