James Anderson

James Werner Anderson was born May 30, 1939, in Starbuck, Minnesota to Clarence and Ethel (Petersen) Anderson. Jim was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon and graduated from Brandon High School. After high school he spent time working at airports in Chicago and Atlanta. Jim moved back to Brandon and bought his first backhoe in 1961, and started working with his Dad, who was a carpenter and did plumbing and heating.
Jim was united in marriage to Dorothy Marty on July 15, 1967, at St. Mary’s Church in Chokio, MN. The couple was blessed with two children, Jimmy and Sandy. Jim and his Dad, Clarence worked as a team with Jim primarily working on the excavating and plumbing and heating side, which he was still doing up until the present. He also did some over the road trucking and driving school bus. Jim enjoyed going to auctions and collecting scrap metal.
Jim was a hardworking jack of all trades, and at times a man of very few words, except when he had a strong opinion about a subject. He was always there to lend a helping hand. Jim loved his morning coffee breaks at Bob’s, now known as Joe’s. He really enjoyed spending time with his grandkids teaching them about his craft.
Jim passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Anderson of Brandon; son, Jim (Angie) Anderson of Alexandria; daughter, Sandy (David) Harris of Elk River; grandchildren, Nicole and Stephanie Anderson and Garrett and Gavin Harris; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don Marty, Bernard (Lynda) Marty, Delroy (Nita) Marty, Mary Lou (John) Berlinger, Sue (Gerry) McCrory, and Dennis (Peg) Marty; and many nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ethel; sisters-in-law, Judy (Dick) Ambroz and Donnie Marty.
A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM on Monday, September 25, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
