James Francis Bous was born on March 18, 1940 in Long Prairie, Minnesota to Alvin and Nellie (Collins) Bous. He graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1957. Jim started working as a junior in High School being a relief milk route driver for the Long Prairie Creamery. He bought the milk route in 1957. On June 29, 1959, James was united in marriage to Judith Lesta Jenkins at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Long Prairie. The couple made their home on his parent?s farm near Long Prairie. In 1960, Jim attended Auctioneering School in Iowa, while continuing his milk route business and in 1961 he bought a new milk truck. On November 1, 1962 the couple moved to the Miltona area, where they bought the gas station ?Gas for Les? from Judy?s parents. On September 1, 1963 they changed the name to Jim and Judy?s. They also owned and operated Jiffy Lunch Wagon, Cashway Clerking and Jim continued auctioneering. In 1988, their son, Jason took over the operations at Jim and Judy?s. Jim enjoyed trips to Laughlin, NV going to the casino, gardening, golf carts, cutting wood, metal work, watching old western movies, moose and bear hunting, snowmobiling, playing cards especially pinochle and poker, and he was always good for telling a good story. He loved coming to the station every day to have morning coffee and play cards. Jim died on Friday, August 1, 2014 at his home at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife, Judy; six children, James, Jarrett, Jeffrey, Jason (Rhonda), Justin, and Judy B; twelve grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; brother, Al (Louise) Bous of Long Prairie; sisters, Sylvia Johnson of Olathe, KS and Carol Tegels of Windom, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Nellie. A memorial service was held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Kali Christensen officiating. Honorary urn bearers were the morning coffee and cards crew. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria
