James Frederick Knudsen was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin to Thorvold and Rachel (Spencer) Knudsen. He was born the youngest of three children and his mother died when he was a young boy. James was united in marriage to Shirley Beers on October 28, 1950 in Farmington, WI. To this union the couple was blessed with two children. The family moved to St. Paul where James worked at the Armour and Company as a meat packer. They later moved to Inver Grove Heights and recently moved to Alexandria. James died on Friday, December 12, 2008 at Knute Nelson in Alexandria at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Alexandria; son, Stephen (Laura) Knudsen of Alexandria; daughter, Candace Knudsen of Inver Grove Heights; two grandchildren, Axel and Liberty; brothers, Edwin, Donald (Audrey), and William (Karen). He is preceded in death by his parents, Thorvold and Rachel; brothers and sisters, Harold, Helen, Bernadette, and Alan. A memorial service will be held 11 AM on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Inver Grove Heights, 2075 E. 70th St. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
