James “Jim” Lais was born on November 18, 1936 in Lismore, Minnesota one of five children of Charles & Eleanor (Hebbelman) Lais. The family lived on a farm outside of Lismore. Jim graduated from Adrian High School and furthered his education at Dunwoody Institute.
On November 17, 1962, James was united in marriage to Norma Majeres at Our Lady of Good Council in Wilmont, Minnesota. In 1966, the couple moved to Alexandria where they raised their family and Jim worked for KCMT (later KCCO TV.)
Jim loved fishing, hunting and trapping but his greatest love was his family.
Jim died on Monday, July 13, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Norma; four children: Tim (Susanne) of Hoffman, Jackie Bauer of Plymouth, David (Janette) of New Hope, Julie (Bob) Shervin of Apache Junction, AZ; six grandchildren: Josh (Page), Cassandra (Alex), Katelyn, Courtney, Malaine, Candice (Justin); four great grandchildren: Matthew, Josiah, Camille, Thorsten; two brothers: Tom (Cecilia), David (Ardys); two sisters: Sheryl (Mark) Grindy, Jeannie (Dean) Peterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles & Eleanor.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
