OBITUARY James Michael Quinn was born on December 14, 1948, the son of James W. and Elayne (Sorenson) Quinn. Jim grew up in Alexandria and graduated from Jefferson High School with the Class of 1966. After high school, Jim worked for the 7UP Bottling Company in Minneapolis for a few years. He then worked for Flour City Architectural Metal Company. Jim later sustained a life altering back injury while working to build the IDS Tower in Minneapolis. After working for a dental company in California for a few years, Jim moved back to Minnesota. Jim was united in marriage to Linda Drexler on February 23, 1974 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River, MN. They lived in Alexandria and began their family having three children: Amy, Kristie and Ryan. Jim had lots of hobbies and interests including a love for hunting and fishing, playing guitar, and listening to Country Western music. He could spend hours in a blind or days on the lake. He liked Elvis, the Beatles and Sci-Fi movies. He liked to eat fried chicken, oysters and hershey bars and was rarely seen without a coke. Jim had strong positions on politics and a strong faith in God. Jim was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching all sports with a special passion for the Minnesota Vikings and the Twins. However, the most important part of Jim?s life was his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. His children were the light of his life and made it well known to everyone how proud he was of them. Jim attended every sporting event, school function, and any activity in which his children were involved. His dog Toby was like a child to him, by his side at all times. Jim was a jokester, witty and found great joy in making others laugh. He had a special bond with his grandchildren. He loved watching movies, playing war and telling jokes with his best buddy, his #1 grandson, Caden. Jim was truly a kind, gentle soul, with a good heart and wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him. James M. Quinn died on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 63 years old.
