James Roehrborn

James William was born on January 18, 1931 in Marshfield, Wisconsin the son of Elmer and Anna (Hillman) Roehrborn. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. He attended high school in Marshfield and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1949. While attending high school Jim met the love of his life Jean Bandt at a church picnic. After graduation Jim joined the United States Navy and served his country for four years as a radio operator. Upon returning home Jim and Jean were united in marriage on May 21, 1955 in Marshfield. They continue to live Marshfield, where they had their firstborn daughter, Susan. After about a year the family moved to the Twin Cities area where their daughter, Connie was born. Jim attended Northwestern Bible College and received a bachelor?s degree in elementary education. He taught grade school at several schools in the Twin Cities. Jim retired from teaching in 1992. In 2001, the Roehrborns, along with the rest of the family moved to Alexandria. It was very important to Jim that his children were raised in a Christian home. He was a long time member of the Gideons International and he is very instrumental in getting the Gideon Bibles in public school libraries. He was also very active in giving Bibles to school children as well as adults. Jim and Jean enjoyed their life together. They owned several RVs which they used to take the children and grandchildren on many trips. Jim's favorite thing was to take his family camping. Their most memorable trip was taking their motorhome to the Black Hills. Jim was also very active in writing articles that where published in many newspapers around the country. He enjoyed spreading Gods word and political views to everyone who would listen or not. Jim died suddenly on Friday, September 30, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 4th at 1 PM at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Visitation will be an hour prior. He is survived by his daughters: Susan Roehrborn of Alexandria, Connie (Jim) Roehrborn-Aure of Alexandria; grandchildren Chris (Jen) Swanson of Alexandria, Josh Aure of Alexandria, Ashley Aure of Alexandria and one great grandson Caden Swanson of Alexandria; brothers Ervin (Rae) Roehrborn of Marshfield, WI, Charles (Jean) of Marshfield, WI; Sisters: Wilma Noble of Dixon MO, Edith (Clarence) Carpenter-Neu of Weston, WI; Sister in law Shirley Roehrborn of Cadott, WI; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents: Elmer and Anna Roehrborn, brother, Danial Roehrborn, wife of 55 years Jean, as well as brother in laws Norman Carpenter and Elias Noble.
