James William Tresichel, 76, died on Monday, October 5, 2009, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Jim was surrounded by his children at the time of his death. Jim was born on May 20, 1933, in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Irene Treischel. He attended St. Cloud Cathedral High School and was active in boxing and theatre. He also served as the Senior Class President. Jim graduated from high school in 1951. Following high school he joined the ?O-Wat-Fours? a barbershop quartet from Owatonna, MN. The group traveled all over entertaining people with stops in Chicago and New York City appearing on the Arthur Godfrey Show. In 1961, Jim was united in marriage to Dixie Lee Asleson. The couple lived in Grand Junction, CO for three years before moving to Alexandria. Jim and Dixie had four children: Jamie Lee, John Lee, Janelle Lee, and Jackie Lee. Jim worked as the manager of the Elks Club for several years before settling into his 28 year career as the ?furniture man? at Perry?s Furniture. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Jim also loved to cook and with Sunday being his only day off he would treat his children, their friends and anyone else who was hungry to a large Sunday dinner. These dinners continued up until his illness two years ago. Jim loved to watch his grandchildren and would take them on ?Sunday drives? any day of the week. They would make frequent stops at local farms to visit cows, pigs, and horses. Jim was an active member of the Nelson?s Mens Club and was instrumental in the development of the Nelson Softball Fields. He was always generous, and gave in so many ways, whether it was his time, his energy, his love or his deviled eggs. The only thing in Jim?s life that caused him stress was his love/hate relationship with all of the Minnesota sports teams. Jim is survived by his children: Jamie Treischel of Alexandria, John (Sue) Treischel of Alexandria, Janelle Loghry of Lewis, IA, Jackie Notch of Alexandria, Greg (Linda) Wagner of Burnsville, MN, Gretchen (Mike) Wagner-Tesarek of Chicago, IL; Ten Grandchildren: Mallory Evans, Jonathan, Joshua, & Amanda Treischel, Joe, Ben, Nick, & Cody Loghry, Murphy & Carley Notch; Two Great Grandchildren: Blake & Rylee Evans.
