James Donald White

James Donald White was born on August 24, 1949, in Marshall, Minnesota the son of Donald and Dorothy (Sovell) White. He grew up in Marshall and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1967. During his high school years he was quite the athlete excelling in football and baseball.

Jim continued his education at Alexandria Technical College receiving his associate degree. He signed up for the draft during the Vietnam Conflict after his schooling but due to medical circumstances he was unable to serve. 

Jim was united in marriage to Sharon Gasperlin on June 15, 1974 at St. Mary’s Church in Alexandria. To this union two children were born: Joe & Mary. During his working career Jim worked as a mechanic for D&D Auto and the last 13 years at the Alexandria Street Department.

After his retirement Jim & Sharon moved to their dream home on Lake Gilchrist where he could enjoy fishing and hunting whenever he wanted.

Jim died on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Alomere Health. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Joe (girlfriend, Valorie Minder); daughter, Mary (Freddie) Serda; grandchildren: Kenzie & Caden Serda; sisters: Phyllis House, Barb (Patrick) Carlon.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Donald & Dorothy White and parents-in-law, Rita & Larry Gasperlin.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, 10:00 – 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
