Jane Marie Close, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023, at the age of 73. Born on January 13, 1950, in Alexandria, MN, she was the daughter of George and Ann (Horst) Lund.
Jane's early years were filled with joy and love, growing up in Brandon, MN, alongside her 10 siblings. She attended Brandon High School and graduated in 1968. Jane's passion for caring for others led her to pursue a career in nursing, and she enrolled in the Alex Tech nursing program, where she gained the skills and knowledge that would shape her dedicated career.
It was during her time working at the American Laundry and Cleaners in Alexandria that Jane encountered David Close, the love of her life. Their bond grew strong, and they exchanged wedding vows on January 24, 1970, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Brandon, MN. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and mutual support.
As a devoted mother, Jane was blessed with three children, Jennifer, David, and Jill. She poured her love and wisdom into their lives, guiding them towards happiness and success. Family was the cornerstone of Jane's life, and her role as a mother and especially a grandmother brought her immense joy and fulfillment.
Jane dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Knute Nelson for 28 years. Her compassion, empathy, and unwavering commitment to patient care earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and patients alike.
Beyond her professional career, Jane was actively involved in her community, selflessly giving her time and energy to various organizations. She volunteered at the Hospice of Douglas County, Birthright, Girl Scouts, and St. Mary's Catholic Church just to name a few. Her willingness to help others showcased her generous and caring nature.
Remembered for her sharp wit, Jane had a contagious laughter that brightened any room. She possessed a strong faith in God and found solace in her Catholic beliefs. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing cards, solving crossword puzzles, playing games with her grandkids, and bowling with her friends and family. Jane also found pleasure in reading, often with a glass of wine in hand.
