Jane Hjelm

February 21, 1924 — January 12, 2009

Jane was born on February 21, 1924 in Kensington on the family farm, the daughter of Edward and Gustava (Skramstad) Bjerk. She was baptized and confirmed at Solem Lutheran Church. Jane was united in marriage to Vincent Hjelm on June 25, 1950. The couple resided in Holmes City where they raised their three children. Her greatest love was caring for her family. No one was ever a stranger at her kitchen table. She always had a cup of coffee served with homemade buns, rolls or cookies, or a meal for anyone who stopped by. Many of her days were spent taking walks and shopping with her friends. Jane enjoyed watching soap operas, the Minnesota Twins and Everybody Loves Raymond. She always had a friendly smile and a good word. Jane was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and an active member of Ladies Aide. Jane died on Monday, January 12, 2009. She is survived by her three children: Bryan V. and wife Donnalee of White Bear Lake; James M. and wife Cindy of Kensington; and Susanne J. Anderson of Holmes City; grandchildren: Eric (Tina), Gregory, Karina (Joe) Houle, Tiffany, Brandon Brewer, Jason Johanson, Timothy Anderson, and Tara Anderson; and great grandchildren: Dominic, Abigail and Marissa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent; parents and two brothers: Wencil and Howard. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 17, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Holmes City with Rev. Denise Croskey officiating. Pallbearers were her grandchildren: Eric Hjelm, Gregory Hjelm, Karina Houle, Tiffany Hjelm, Brandon Brewer, Tara Anderson, Timothy Anderson. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery
