Janet Erickson

Janet Mariel was born on August 28, 1937, in Billings Park a suburb of Superior, Wisconsin the daughter of Henry and Maxine (Griffin) Larsen. Janet was born at a home hospital run by a group of Catholic Sisters. She was baptized by the head Sister shortly after her birth. She attended grade school at Billings Park through the 5th grade. At the age of twelve, Janet and her mother, Maxine moved to Glenwood, Minnesota. She graduated from Glenwood High School in June of 1955 Janet was united in marriage to Harold J. Erickson on June 9th, 1956. To this union four children were born. The couple resided in the Alexandria area where Janet worked at Shalom Lutheran Church as secretary for over twenty years. She also did a lot of volunteer work at the church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, loved to cook and bake but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Janet died on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. She is survived by three children: Heidi Hunter of Oregon, Mariel Stang of Glenwood, Kim Erickson of Nelson; nine grandchildren: Scott Erickson, Taylor Erickson, Corey, Justin, and Brady Thoennes, Nicole and Katie Thoennes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, Dean. Memorial services were held on Thursday, January 30, 2014, 1:00 PM at Shalom Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Inherrod Cemetery in Starbuck. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
