Janet Guenther

Janet Mary Wolbeck was born July 21, 1945 in Paynesville, MN, the daughter of Bernard and Sophie (Straub) Wolbeck. She grew up in Paynesville and graduated from high school there. She moved to St. Cloud, MN and then to Alexandria, MN. Janet began working for Woolworth?s in Alexandria. On August 5 1967 Janet was united in marriage to Gerald Guenther at St. Mary?s Church in Alexandria. The couple made their home on Quincy Street and began raising a family. In 1977 they moved to the farm. They were blessed with two children, Jeff and Joleen. In 1979 Janet began working at St. Mary?s School where she served as a health aide. She worked at the school for the last 33 years. Janet was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lowry, MN. She was also a member of the ZCBJ Lodge in Lake Mary Township. Janet was a longtime member of St. Mary?s Church. Janet enjoyed reading and doing cross-stitch work. She enjoyed making trips to the casino. Janet also enjoyed the outdoors. She liked to sit outside and watch the birds and experience nature. She went on many camping trips with her family. Janet especially enjoyed the time she spent with her children and her grandchildren. On Wednesday, July 11. 2012 Janet died at the age of sixty-six years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Guenther, Her parents, Bernard and Sophie Wolbeck, and one brother, Robert Wolbeck. Janet is survived by her two children, Jeff Guenther and wife, Sara, of Alexandria and Joleen Schouweiler and husband, Mark, of Alexandria; four grandchildren, Molly Schouweiler, Jack Schouweiler, Alaina Guenther and Locklyn Guenther; one brother, LeRoy Wolbeck; and four sisters, Mary Roering and husband, Mike, of St. Wendell, MN, Bertha Ilgen and husband, Harlan, of New London, MN, Rose Moore and husband, Clarence, of Melrose, MN and Patty Hollermann and husband, Lambert, of Burtrum, MN and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria, MN. Reverend Father Steve Binsfeld was the celebrant. Interment followed in the Independent Bohemian Cemetery in Lake Mary Township. Casket bearers included Mark Guenther, Mike Guenther, Brian Ilgen, Darren Roering, Shawn Hollermann and Chad Moore. Honorary Casket bearers included all of the Faculty of St. Mary?s School and all of the American Legion Post 253 Auxiliary members. Arrangements were with Anderson Funeral Home.
