Janet Clare Fischer was born on June 11, 1944 in Little Falls, MN, the daughter of Raymond and Theresa (Kimman) Fischer. She grew up on a farm in Pierz Township, MN. She attended school in Pierz and graduated from high school in 1962. While in high school in 1961, Janet went on a blind date and met the love of her life, Linus Huver. Janet and Linus were married on July 21,1962 in Mpls., MN. Together they lived in Minneapolis until they moved to Blaine, MN in 1970. Janet and Linus raised five children: Margaret, Mark, Michelle, Maureen, and Madelene while living Blaine. She worked as a cook for several restaurants in Blaine starting with Walgreen’s Restaurant in the North Town Mall, then Perkins, and TGI Fridays.
In 2003, Janet and Linus moved to Alexandria and built their home on Lake Mary. Janet worked at Tastefully Simple and Douglas Machines prior to her stroke 12 years ago. Janet enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling in Yellowstone National Park, playing canasta, and fishing. She especially enjoyed watching all the activity happening on Lake Mary.
Janet was an excellent baker and cook. She will be remembered for her homemade bread and her Famous Prayer Bars, because they tasted so heavenly. Some other memories of Janet will be her playing board games, puzzles, playing cards, and making special dinners for her children. Janet loved her family and especially all her grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly called her, “Boss Grandma”, because grandma was in charge.
Janet died on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at her home in Lake Mary Township at the age of 75 years old.
