OBITUARY Janet Steadman Dale Wagner was born on October 4, 1941 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Ralph and Haldis (Ness) Steadman. She was baptized at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Bloomington and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena. She graduated from Wadena High School in 1959. Jan continued her education and attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Dale on November 12, 1960. Three children were born to this marriage: Deborah, John, and Daniel. They moved to Morris, MN where Jan went back to college to complete her English degree at the University of Minnesota, Morris graduating in 1968. She soon began teaching at West Central area schools and retired after 32 years. Jan was an intelligent woman who was a gifted teacher to many children throughout her career. She treated everyone she met with respect and always had the coffee pot on and her door open. Jan loved to organize family gatherings for the holidays and entertain her friends in her home. She was an avid reader, she enjoyed playing bridge, and watching sports on television. She traveled with Adolph around the United States and Europe. Jan's family has always been very important to her. She was very involved with her grandchildren, always asking how they were doing in school and other activities. She was a grateful woman who appreciated all the things in her life and will be forever missed by those who knew and loved her. Jan died peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2014 at her home. She is survived by her husband of 22 years Adolph Wagner of Alexandria; sons John (Victoria) Dale of Alexandria and Daniel Dale (Heather Graffam) of Osakis; daughter Deborah (Douglas) Farm of Zimmerman; grandchildren Kayla Dale, Rachel Dale, Joshua Dale, Jacob Dale, Zachary Dale, Wyatt Graffam, Melissa (Dirk) Newman, Ashley Farm, and Alexa Farm; great grandchildren Claire, Jack, and Luke Newman; stepdaughter Laura (Randy) Kluver of Osakis; stepson Mark (Bridget) Wagner of Osakis; step grandchildren Dylan Kluver, Dalton Kluver, Jared Wagner, Breann Wagner, Jordan Wagner, and Brady Wagner; brother Bruce (Barbara) Steadman of Excelsior and their children Matt (Becca), Sarah (Taylor), and Sam; sister Pamela (Peter) of Bloomington and their son Thomas (Karen) and many other family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert L. Dale, and her parents Ralph and Haldis Steadman. A funeral service was held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Shalom Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Reverend Grant Aaseng officiating. Interment was in the St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket Bearers were Joshua Dale, Jacob Dale, Dylan Kluver, Dalton Kluver, Jared Wagner, Brady Wagner, Jordan Wagner, and Wyatt Graffam. Honorary Casket Bearers were Kayla Dale, Rachel Dale, Melissa Newman, Ashley Farm, Alexa Farm, Breann Wagner, and Zachary Dale. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria www.andersonfuneral.net Jan's family prefers memorials to be directed to Hospice of Douglas County.
