Janet Marie Zwieg was born in Flatwoods Kentucky on August 28th 1945 to Maryland Dykes
Potter and Donna Lee Longshore. One of eight children and the youngest of three girls they were all raised baptized and confirmed in the Baptist faith. Janet served our country in the Army ENT Air Force Base located in Colorado Springs working as a secretary in the secretary pool for Norad. While there she met Roger on a blind date, one of their first dates was at the Garden of the Gods. On December 23rd 1965 they were married and made Alexandria Minnesota their home and of this union two daughters were born Sonya and Karie.
She continued her education at the Alexandria technical school for secretary and earned her CNA certificate then later her LPN license.
Janet enjoyed chaperoning School field trips while the girls were growing up and even volunteered tutoring people that were studying for their GED. She was employed by Bethany home and Knute Nelson Memorial home before retiring. Janet loved to play Bingo, working puzzles and was always up for a casino trips and attending dances that Roger's Band played at. She also enjoyed her grandchildren and played all kinds of board games and cards with them.
Janet suffered from dementia for many years and went home to her Heavenly Father the evening of May 21st 2022.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gary Potter,brother Bill Potter, sister Judy Moore, mother and father-in-law Vernon and Florence.
Janet is survived by her husband of 56 years Roger, daughters Sonya ( Brad) Collins of Alexandria Karie ( Wade) Eide of Miltona Minnesota, grandchildren Gillian (Katie) Schroeder of Noonan North Dakota, Austin (Alexis) Eide of Fargo North Dakota, Mitchell Schroeder (Stephanie Koenig)of Becker Minnesota, and Amanda Eide (Samuel Hedstrom) of Alexandria Minnesota, great grandchildren MaKenna Schroeder, Asher Eide and Perregrin Schroeder and baby Schroeder due in December. Brothers Ronnie (Faye) Potter Robert (Linda) Potter Mitchell (Pat) Potter and sister Alene (Larry) Garvin all of Kentucky, brother-in-law Jack Moore of Ohio, sister-in-laws Laurie Zwieg of Brooklyn Center Minnesota, Lynn (Jerry) Kral of Osakis Minnesota and brother-in-law Albert (Kathy) Zwieg of Alexandria Minnesota along with many MANY nieces and nephews. Urn bearers are her grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, 1:30 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
