Jean Dodds, 68
Jean Karen (Zimmerman) Dodds of Parkers Prairie, Mn (formerly of Osseo, Mn), passed away unexpectedly on March 16, 2017 at the age of 68. A small family gathering will be held in her honor, according to her wishes.
Jean leaves behind her husband James W. Dodds, sons BJ and Casey, and daughter Christina ("Chrissy"); siblings Jerry, Joan (Zimmerman) Rosengren, Joyce (Zimmerman) Schreiber, Robert and Mark; grandkids Logann, Brooke, Helen and Evelyn.
Jean was a conquerer in life. She finished beauty school and became a beautician with the help of her aunt Dolores. She opened up her first "shop" in Ketchikan, Alaska in 1968 at the age of 20 (while Jim was stationed there with the Coastguard). Jim and Jean moved back to Minnesota in 1971 and bought a dairy farm and started their new adventure of farming and raising a family. Eventually Jean returned to her creative profession and opened "Haircare." This was the place where Jean made lasting memories with customers and friends for over 30 years.
Jean gave so much to her community. She was a Sunday school superintendent and teacher for 25 years at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She coached youth gymnastics and high school danceline. Her dance teams won numerous awards against much larger schools, including a national title, which she was very proud of.
Family meant everything to Jean; her kids and her grandkids. She enjoyed gardening, decorating her home, and watching HGTV. Those who knew her well appreciated her unique mix of "toughness and kindness" and her candid ability to "tell it like it is." She will be deeply, deeply missed.
