Jeanette (Haugum) Anderson was born December 25, 1921, one of two children of Johan and Mabel Haugum, of Montevideo, Minnesota. After graduating high school, Jeanette worked as a receptionist and assistant for Dr. Roust. In 1945 Jeanette married Gordon Anderson of Granite Falls. The couple lived in Atlanta, Georgia until the end of World War II. After the war the couple then moved back to Montevideo and later moved to Alexandria, MN in 1956. Jeanette kept busy raising their four children. She helped lead Sunday school, boy scouts and girl scouts. She volunteered at Knute Nelson and later became the Volunteer Coordinator at the Douglas County Hospital. Jeanette spent a lot of her time visiting and being a caregiver to friends and family of all ages. She did not want to have anyone feel alone. She also was a member of Eastern Star for fifty years. Jeanette enjoyed playing cards and bridge and played with several clubs. Many of the one-time acquaintances became her life-long friends.
Jeanette loved to entertain and hosted the annual summer family reunion, which everyone looked forward to. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart and were blessed with her laughter and love.
Jeanette passed away on January 18, 2016 at the age of ninety-four years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon and brother, Donald Haugum.
