Jeanne Gunderson

Jeanne Kathleen (Strom) Gunderson was born on March 17, 1927, to Dell and Blanche Strom of Hoffman. She was baptized on September 11, 1927, and confirmed June 1, 1944, at Bethel Lutheran Church. She attended school in Hoffman. She loved music and played piano, clarinet, and was in the Spanish Operetta in High School. On July 16, 1944, she was united in marriage to Wallace Gunderson in St. Paul. They were members of Lands and Messiah Church of Hoffman. Jeanne was mostly a home mother raising her four children. In 1971, Wally and Jeanne purchased the Shoe and Repair Shop in Hoffman. Faith became very important in her life after losing both parents at a very young age. She taught, and played piano for Sunday School, attended bible study, held office in the ELCW, and was a member of the church choir for over 67 years.She was an avid fan of her family, and loved attending their sporting events and performances. Jeanne was a member of the Commercial Club and enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing, traveling, baking, crocheting, sewing, and doing Hardanger. She also enjoyed playing piano for devotions at the Nursing Home for more than 20 years where she was chosen Volunteer of the Year. Jeanne is survived by her children: Jack (Linda) Gunderson of Washburn, WI, Vivian (Sam) Bentley of Maple Grove, MN, Jerry (Karin) Gunderson of Phoenix, AZ, Faye (Terry) Giese of Hoffman, MN; grandchildren: Sara (Shawn) Clough, Michele Hagen, Aly (Tim) Fingleton, Joy & Ryan Gunderson, Amy (Justin) Puchalski, Andrew (special friend, Kelsey Bennett) Giese; great grandchildren: Ashlee, Jeffrey & Hope Clough, Jayce & Isabelle Puchalski; sisters: Betty Baty, Colleen Westberg, Donna Reuss, Harriet Hubred. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Wally and her parents. Memorial service will be held on Sunday December 29, 2013, 2:00 PM at Messiah Lutheran Church in Hoffman. Burial will be at the Lands Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
