Jeffery Scott Zastrow

Alexandria

Jeffery Scott Zastrow, 58, of Alexandria passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, with a public visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria.

Jeffery Scott Zastrow was born on March 4, 1966 to Edgar and Agnes (Schulke) Zastrow. He was one of nine children who grew up in Alexandria and attended school at Jefferson High School; he worked at Taco John’s and graduated with the class of 1984. After graduating, Jeff attended school at Alexandria Technical College. After obtaining his associates degree, he moved to New Hope, Minnesota where he began working as a data processor for United Hardware, until suffering a stroke in 2009. Jeff became disabled and continued to live on his own in New Hope.

Jeff loved to attend the Minnesota State Fair with friends and family. He made lifelong friends and relationships while residing in New Hope, but still made sure to attend every holiday and special occasion with his family. In the beginning of 2024, Jeffery suffered another stroke and was in more need of help. His family helped him move back to Alexandria to be closer to them, where he resided at Windmill Ponds until his passing.

JZ, as he sometimes referred to himself, was known by all to be soft spoken and kind hearted. He loved camping during the summer months. He would wear boots all year and burn them on the first camping trip of the summer. Jeff was a prankster at heart. He couldn't help but put a smile on everyone’s face. At one of the many stays with his sister Judy, Jeff fell through the deck. Judy asked, “Who broke the deck?!” Tera, Jeff’s goddaughter, said, “Jeff did. Dumb guy.” From then on, it became a standing joke with the family. Besides camping, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseshoe, golf, and spending time relaxing and watching tv. Jeff deeply cared for his friends and family, and especially his dog Cujo who he had gotten as a puppy. Jeffery Scott Zastrow passed away at the St. Cloud Hospital on November 10th, surrounded by his loving family; he was 58 years old. Left to cherish his memory are his brothers: Rick (Lori) Zastrow, Randy Zastrow, Galen (Kari) Huizinga; sisters: Judy (Aldon) Carlson, Donna Moen; sister-in-law, Carol Zastrow; his goddaughter, Tera Carlson; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; as well as his best friend and faithful canine companion, Cujo. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Agnes Zastrow; stepdad, Duane Huizinga; siblings: Jerry Zastrow, Sharyl (Paul) Mohawk, Marjorie (Victor) Karger-Roob, Russell Zastrow; brothers-in-law: Jerry Karger and Larry Moen.

God’s Garden

God looked around his garden, and found an empty place, He then looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face. He put his arms around you, and lifted you to rest, God’s garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb, so he closed your weary eyelids, and whispered “peace be thine”. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
