Jennifer Kay Smith was born December 22, 1952 in Alexandria, MN, the daughter of Eugene and Shirley (Udell) Smith. On Saturday, July 19, 2014 Jennifer died at the age of sixty-one years. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Jennifer is survived by her siblings, Kathleen, Susan, Courtney and Barbara; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; the residents of the Hawley Group Home; family friend Chom Le Magneson and all of Jennifer?s caregivers. Jennifer lived with her family until the age of five when she moved to Cambridge, MN and eventually Hawley, MN. Jennifer moved into her current home with CCRI on November 9th 1984 where she lived for nearly 30 years. She was raised in the Lutheran faith. Jennifer enjoyed working for many years at Heartland Industries of Moorhead MN. Jennifer loved her family which extended to the residents and caregivers at the Hawley Group Home. She was a fun-loving joyful person and had a spunk to her that is matched by no one. Jennifer loved many things; singing, listen to music, helping with craft projects and going to musical plays. One of Jennifer?s biggest joys was to look beautiful. She loved to go shopping for new clothes and costume jewelry, getting her hair done, having her finger nails painted and putting on some makeup. She was a true fashionista! Jennifer also loved animals and kids; they were all her ?baby?s?! Jennifer also had some great adventures, she loved going to Camp HERO, Wisconsin Dells, and Nashville. Jennifer?s fun-loving vivacious personality will be truly missed. A private memorial service is planned. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home.
