Jerald Frederick Fiebranz was born June 3, 1939 in Belle River, MN, the son of Harold and Carolyn (Rediehs) Fiebranz. Jerry grew up in the Belle River area. In 1955 Harold Fiebranz bought the home farm just south of the Alexandria airport and moved his family onto the farm. Jerry graduated from high school in Alexandria. He served in the Minnesota National Guard. Jerry also served in the US Army for two years before joining the US Air Force. On March 1, 1959 Jerry was united in marriage to Sandra Flaten in Biloxi, MI where he was stationed. The couple was blessed with four children, Rocky, Terri, Jackie and Tina. They made there home in several places throughout Jerry?s military career including Indiana, Washington and North Carolina. Jerry was stationed away from his family for about one and a half years in Newfoundland, Canada. In 1978 Jerry retired, as a Tech Sergeant, from the Air Force and returned with his family to Minnesota. He found work doing home construction and concrete work. He also worked at home as a mechanic. Later Jerry worked at D. Michael B?s in Alexandria. Jerry was a member of the VFW Post 936, the Elks and the Eagle?s Club in Alexandria. Jerry enjoyed fishing in the summer and winter. He also enjoyed tinkering, mechanics and building things such as tractors and trailers. Gardening was also something that Jerry liked to do. He and Sandra traveled in their motor home to southern and western United States. While visiting in Oregon he helped build an addition on his son?s home. After battling with cancer, Jerry died on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the age of seventy-three years. His parents and one young sister, Jane Marie Fiebranz, preceded him in death. Jerry is survived by his wife, Sandra Fiebranz of Alexandria; one son Roland ?Rocky Fiebranz and wife, Lisa, of Portland, OR; three daughters, Terri Kapphahn of Fergus Falls, MN, Jackie Hermel of Long Prairie, MN and Tina Fiebranz of Alexandria; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Henneman, Vincent Kapphahn, Zachary Kapphahn, Robbie Hermel, Alyssa Fiebranz, Brandi Fiebranz, Cassie Vandehey, Justin Kasmaker and Danielle Kasmaker; great grandchildren, Jody, Abigail, Parker, Celia Rae, Connor, Kaden and Emmy Lou; two brothers, Leon Fiebranz of Oxford, WI and Fred Fiebranz and wife, Mary, of Rogers, MN; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A funeral service was held Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Reverend Wayne Erickson was the officiant. Honorary pallbearers included all of Jerry?s grandchildren. Arrangements were with Anderson Funeral Home.
