Jeri Lee (Salt) Hillemeier was born March 23rd, 1947 in Alexandria MN to Walter and Mavis (Weatherwax) Salt and died Feb 21st, 2021 in Alexandria MN.
Jeri grew up in Alexandria until early grade school when her parents moved to Port Hueneme, CA for 2 years. The family moved back to Alexandria and lived on Lake Darling where she finished her primary education. After high school, Jeri attended St. Cloud State University for 2 years and then finished her secondary education at Alexandria Technical College, graduating with a degree in Accounting in 1968. She married Anthony “Peter” Hillemeier on July 27th, 1968 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and continued to live in Alexandria while her husband was in Vietnam. Upon Peter’s return, the couple moved to Olivia MN where her husband worked and later bought Hillemeier Brother’s Trucking with his brother Chris.
While in Olivia, Jeri was a bookkeeper for Food and Fuel Gas Mart and prepared taxes for Sanger and Sather for many years. Peter and Jeri raised 3 children during their time in Olivia and have been blessed with 5 grandchildren. Steven and Lynn Hillemeier live in Olivia with their children Kiley, Kaleb and Kade. Scott Hillemeier lives in Lakeville MN. Kristin and Brian Bellicot live in Savage, MN with their children Sydney and Peter. She absolutely thought the best of that group were the two “outlaws” – Brian and Lynn.
Jeri loved to quilt and made many beautiful quilts with her friends from the Yellow Stone Trail Quilt Group. Over the past several years she has started teaching her grandchildren how to sew.
Peter and Jeri moved back to Alexandria in 2005 to the edge of Lake Darling where she enjoyed baking and gardening with her grandkids and continued to quilt with friends from the Alexandria and Garfield area.
Jeri was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Salt and son Joseph Hillemeier, who died at birth. She is survived by her husband Peter, sons Steven (Lynn) Hillemeier and Scott Hillemeier, daughter Kristin (Brian) Bellicot, and 5 grandchildren. She made many friends in Alexandria and Olivia and will be missed by all.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. They will be directed to the Ronald McDonald house which holds a special place in Jeri’s heart.
