Jerome Altermatt

Jerome Altermatt Jerome Joseph ?Jerry? Altermatt was born on June 1, 1920, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, the son of Robert and Anna (Kuebler) Altermatt. He graduated from St. Mary?s High School in Sleepy Eye and then enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his Honorable Discharge, Jerry met Shirley Radke at a roller skating rink. The couple were married in 1949.The couple lived in New Ulm where Jerry worked as a mason. They then moved to South Dakota for a short period of time and later back to New Ulm where Jerry managed an automobile garage. In 1968 they bought the Beacon Resort on Lake Ida and moved to Alexandria. Jerry worked at 3m in Alexandria until his retirement. The couple joined the Evangelical Covenant Church. They have been members ever since. Jerry was a terrific husband and father who enjoyed fishing, golfing, and tinkering with about anything he could get his hands on. Jerry died on January 2, 2011, at the Douglas County Hospital at the age of 90 years. He is survived by his wife Shirley Altermatt of Alexandria, son Terry (Pearl) Altermatt of Verndale, daughters Rhonda Orlowski of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Jill Altermatt of Alexandria. Also surviving are grandchildren Tony Altermatt, Tammy Altermatt, Aaron Orlowski, Zachary Orlowski, Justin Orlowski, and Jason Orlowski. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters. Memorial services were held on Thursday, January 6, 2011, from the Evangelical Covenant Church in Alexandria with Rev. John Levahn officiating. Music was provided by______________.
