Jerome “Jerry” James Bolstad was born September 15, 1949 near Holmes City, Douglas County, Minnesota to Milo and Myrtle (Anderson) Bolstad.
Jerry was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He attended several schools in Douglas County area; he quit school at the age of sixteen and went to work for area farmers. Jerry spent time working at Brekken farm near Murdock and later at the Corral in Nelson. He was active with the Treasures Crest Association at the Viking Towers where he lived for the past nine years. Jerry always enjoyed making coffee for the residents in the mornings and liked to help everyone he could even though he was in a wheel chair.
Jerry died Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Viking Towers in Alexandria at the age of 65. He is survived by sisters, Shirley (Don) Hart of Miltona, Deloris Lonn of Arizona, Dorothy Warrich (friend, Ed Schult) of Minneapolis, Lila Porter of Carlos, Wanda Kelly of Alexandria, and Ronald (Sharri) Bolstad of Alexandria. Special friends, Judy Henderson, Jeff Martien at the Towers, seventeen nieces and nephews; and cousins. Jerry is preceded in death by parents, Milo and Myrtle; infant brother, Dorland; four brother-in-laws; one nephew and one niece.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
