Jerroll G. Fischer

April 2, 1935 — August 31, 2023

Osakis

It was a cool, cloudy, breezy day in August when our dad went to meet Jesus. Jerroll G. Fischer, 88, of Osakis, passed away on August 31, 2023, at the Galeon in Osakis, MN.

He was born on April 2, 1935, to Edwin and Lydia Fischer in Streeter, ND. Jerroll grew up and worked on his family's dairy farm. From an early age, he developed a strong work ethic that would carry him throughout his life. Riding his horse to school in Streeter, ND, Jerroll would diligently attend classes while his loyal companion made his way back home to assist with the day's chores. This humble childhood shaped him into the hardworking individual he would become.

Jerroll met Arlene Fiechtner in Streeter,ND and after a year of dating, they were united in marriage on October 9th,1955 in Lehr, ND. They had two daughters, Jerilyn and Melicent. Jerroll & his family farmed for 28 years in rural Audubon, MN before moving to Elizabeth, MN. After retirement they spent their summers in Wheaton, MN and their winters in Mission, TX.

Jerroll's creative spirit was evident in his time spent crafting beautiful wood projects and hours tending his gorgeous flower gardens. He also enjoyed going to auctions, garage sales and the companionship of his loving pets.

A caring and loving soul, Jerroll was adored by his grandchildren who fondly recall the countless hours spent playing board games together. Among the favorites were Monopoly, Aggravation, Nuts and Bolts, and SkipBo.  These games, along with his great sense of humor, have become cherished memories for his family.

Jerroll was a man of faith and a strong prayer warrior for his family.  Each morning he found strength and guidance for the day by reading his Bible. Jerroll and Arlene enjoyed attending their local church and many special services, including sing-alongs, wherever they lived.

Jerroll G. Fischer leaves behind cherished memories, a legacy of unwavering faith, compassion, hard work, perseverance, and a genuine warmth that touched the lives of all who knew him. He now rests peacefully but will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who loved him.

Jerroll is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Arlene Rose Fischer; his parents, Edwin and Lydia Fischer; and his sister, Marella Haugen.

Jerroll is survived by his daughters, Jerilyn Fischer-Arnold (husband John Arnold) of Moorhead and Melicent Hansen (husband Jeff) of Alexandria; four grandchildren Susie Dehnert (Matthew) of Amenia, ND, Jennifer Sandaker of Osakis, Christy Randall (Johnny) of Gothenburg, NE, and Sean Basol of Mankato; 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous family members and friends.
