Jerry Munson

Jerry Alan Munson was born on April 27, 1933, in St Paul, Minnesota the son of Harry and Elaine (Peterson) Munson.  After high school he served in the United States Navy. After his military service he attended and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College.

He was married to Joan Schmidt on April 26, 1958, in St. Peter, Minnesota.  They lived in Winona, MN, Leavenworth, KS, Wayne, NJ, and Marshall, MN before moving to Bismarck, ND where together they founded and operated Floor to Ceiling stores in Bismarck and Dickenson, ND until 1983.  But being too energetic to fully retire and fulfilling a lifelong dream of his, they purchased and ran Fun to Boot Resort near Park Rapids MN. After a few years of running the resort they finally made a full commitment to improving their golf games and retired, settling in Alexandria MN.

Jerry enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, dinners out with friends and time spent with family.  He always looked forward to winters spent in sunny Florida.

Jerry died on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 84.  He is survived by children, Michael O’Meara of Minneapolis, MN, Maureen (John) Berry of Punta Gorda, FL, Tom (Tammy) Munson of Bismarck, ND and Dave (Marcia) Munson of North Mankato, MN; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Arlou Capouch of Alexandria.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joan, his parents, sister Margaret and son Daniel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, April 20, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria.  Visitation will for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
