Jim Cavers

James Alan Cavers was born on June 29, 1948, in Fairmont, Minnesota the son of James and Mildred Cavers. He attended and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1966. Jim furthered his education receiving his RN Degree from St. Barnabas Hospital in Minneapolis and then continued on receiving his degree as an Anesthetist at St. Paul Ramsey Hospital.
Jim was united in marriage to Ellie Fjordbak on January 18, 1969, in Benson, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple moved to Minneapolis so Jim could finishing his schooling. In June of 1972 the family moved to Alexandria where Jim worked for the Douglas County Hospital. Jim and Ellie had three sons: Jim, Sean and Andrew. He treasured his family and they enjoyed several camping trips and boating as kids. Jim worked at Douglas County Hospital for 40 years before retiring in 2010.
He will be remembered as a kind, caring, giving and gentle man who always put others before himself. Jim was a meticulous woodworker and quilter. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing cards and dancing.
Jim died on Thursday, December 11, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Ellie; sons: Jim (Shelly) of Blaine, Sean of Alexandria, Andrew (Leslie) of Alexandria; seven grandchildren: Sophia, Wyatt, Connor, Colton, Jackson, George, Emma; sisters: Jean Simpson, Ann Dreier.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials preferred to St. Mary's School Tuition Assistance.
Mass of Christian was held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, 1:30 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Alexandria. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
