Joan Munson

Joan Marie (Schmidt) Munson was born on July 23, 1930 in St. Peter, MN to August Peter and Loretta ?Betty? (Krause) Schmidt. Joan graduated from St. Peter High School in 1948. Joan was a loving and loyal wife to Jerry Munson and moved along with him to many different communities. She was an outstanding mother and grandmother, who always put her family first. Joan was active in golf, bridge, knitting and enjoyed hosting and entertaining family and friends. Joan died at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the age of 83. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jerry; children, Mike O?Meara of Minneapolis; Maureen (John) Berry of Oak Grove, Tom (Tammy) Munson of Bismarck, Dave (Marcia) Munson of Mankato; grandchildren, Chad and Joshua Lukens, Jackie, Chelsea, Micah and Josey Munson, and Andrea, Kaylee (Brady) Lundblad, and Julia Munson; sister, Karen Bornholdt.; sisters-in-law, Johnna Schmidt, and Margaret Bertelsen; and many nieces and nephews. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, August and Loretta; first husband, John O?Meara; son, Daniel Munson; three brothers, Jerome, Donald and Dale Schmidt. A memorial mass was held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at The Church of St. Peter in St. Peter, MN. Inurnment was held in Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter. Honorary urn bearers were her grandchildren. Memorials are preferred to Hospice of Douglas County or St. Mary?s Catholic Church of Alexandria Building Fund. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria
