John Cassell

John Vernon Cassell, the son of Vernon and Lavonne (Kalpin) Cassell, was born on January 4, 1955 in Alexandria, MN. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1973 and then attended Alexandria Technical School for painting. He perfected his skills and began sign lettering on billboards and auto mobiles. John also was an over the road truck driver. He traveled throughout the United States delivering all sorts of different products. John's favorite state was Montana and he always dreamed of living there someday.

John's initials "JVC" in his mind meant "Just Very Cool". John had a good sense of humor and a laid back type of personality. He loved to go fishing, deer hunting, and working on little projects like fixing boats, motorcycles, or making a fish house. John also loved a good garage sale. He was always looking for a good find or antique.

John had two daughters, Jamie and Emily. He loved both of them and his grandchildren. John was a kind man and loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

John V. Cassell died on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Bethany Home in Alexandria at the age of 62 years old. He is survived by his daughters, Jamie (Steve) Klug of Alexandria and Emily (Darryl) Mammenga of Big Lake; eight grandchildren, Dylan, Danika, Shawnia, Tate, Ashlyn, Vivian, Evelyn, and Morgan; mother, Lavonne Cassell of Alexandria; brother, Jim Cassell of Nelson; sisters, Jody Johnson of Parkers Prairie and Julie Cassell (special friend Chris Faber) of Alexandria; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Cassell, brother, Scott Cassell, sister-in-law, Peggy Cassell, and a brother-in-law, Clinton Johnson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 1PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Ben Hilding officiating. Interment will be in the Geneva Cemetery.
