John Albert Baumann, affectionately known as "Jack," was born on April 29, 1936, in Alexandria, Minnesota to John and Dorothy Baumann. He passed away peacefully at his home in Alexandria on February 27, 2025, in the care of his loving daughter and granddaughter, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, teachings, and cherished memories.
Jack dedicated much of his life to his career, owning and operating Jack's Recycling, where he made a significant impact in his community. Not only was he a successful businessman, but he was also a great teacher at heart. He cared deeply for his family and always took every opportunity to impart his wealth of knowledge to them. Whether teaching them about butchering pigs and cows or sharing tales from long drives down the scenic backroads of Minnesota, Jack understood the importance of family bonding through shared experiences.
He was a man of many interests, with a passion for fishing that he approached with great skill. Jack also enjoyed playing cribbage and relished trips to the casino, always finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. His special personality left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Pamela Randle and Lana (Rod) Leedahl; son, Kevin (Michelle) Baumann; stepchildren, Kathy (Patty) Hodges and Keith Hollescheau; and a daughter by heart, Laurie Kroening. His special granddaughter and caregiver, Candy Jackson, played an invaluable role in his life, providing care and companionship. Jack also leaves behind his brother, Ervin Baumann, along with 22 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren. He was blessed with a large extended family including a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.
Jack is reunited in spirit with his beloved parents, John and Dorothy Baumann; his devoted spouse, Arlene Baumann; his sons, Timothy, Gregory, and Brad Baumann; brother, Roger Baumann; and sisters, Mabel Kolle and Marlene Miller.
A visitation to celebrate Jack’s life will take place on March 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory located at 659 Voyager Drive NW, Alexandria, MN. Following this service, those who wish to honor Jack’s memory are invited to gather and recall the beautiful moments they shared with him.
Jack’s legacy is defined by his love for family, his vast knowledge, and the countless memories that will forever reside in the hearts of his loved ones. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
Jack's family would like to thank the nurses and staff from Moments Hospice for their care and support during this difficult time.
