John Daniel Miller was born on August 21, 1986 one of three sons to David and Pamela (Werpy) Miller of Marshall, Minnesota. He was baptized at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Marshall and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria. He graduated from Jefferson High School, where he played on the Cardinal Hockey Team. After high school, he attended Bemidji State University, where he was able to continue to take part in hockey, serving as the team manager for the Beaver Hockey Team. He loved Hockey and enjoyed every minute playing and helping others enjoy the sport.
In his spare time he could be found fishing on the lake, shooting bow or hunting. He was a caregiver. Even as a child, he was the boy that stood up for others. John used his caregiving heart and trained to be an emergency medical technician, serving the area of Rochester and St. Paul. He was passionate about helping, saving and caring for others.
John had a strong faith and believed that God was always with him. From the moment he was born, John was the child that brought sunshine to the room- to know John was to love John. He battled with depression and alcoholism, these diseases took him from his family and friends this past Sunday, January 8, 2017.
John is survived by his parents, David and Pamela Miller; brothers, Robert and Steven Miller, all of Alexandria; Grandma, Marjorie Miller; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death, by his grandpa, Robert Miller; grandparents, Galen and Mary Werpy; and aunt, Susan Bruss.
