John "Jack" Juettner

August 14, 1930 — February 9, 2018

John (Jack) Wayne Juettner was born on August 14, 1930.  He grew up in South Minneapolis and attended Holy Name Catholic Elementary School and De La Salle High School.  After high school he attended the University of Minnesota.  While attending the university Jack signed up for, and served, seventeen months in the Air National Guard.

On June 18, 1955 Jack was united in marriage to Alice Mae Clark at Incarnation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, MN.  They were blessed with four children: Mark, Julie, Cathy, and Jackie.  Jack began his career in the car business working for Chrysler as a District Manager and later moved on to the Ford Motor Company.  In 1976 he acquired the Chrysler dealership in Alexandria and moved his family to town.  Five years later he acquired the Ford dealership in Alexandria and eventually combined both franchises at the present Juettner Motor’s location.  Jack was very active in the community and local business organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, Rotary, and the Elks.  Eventually, he turned over the business to his son, Mark, which was a great source of pride for him.

Jack lived life to the fullest and was always up for a good time.  His passions were spending time with family, golfing, boating, and wintering in Florida and, of course, cars.

On Friday, February 9, 2018 Jack died at the age of eighty-seven years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and John Juettner; and his sister, Mary Berrens.  Jack is survived by his wife, Alice Juettner; four children: Mark (Kris) Juettner, Julie (Lee) Gustafson, Cathy Juettner and Jackie (Mark) Barger; eleven grandchildren:  Jessica (Adam) Downing, Jaimie (Micah) Stevenson, Joe (Lisa) Juettner, Jake Juettner, Andrea (Jason) Wood, Lauren Gustafson, Whitney Wiitanen, Emily (Lee) Tetrick, Olivia Wiitanen, Abby Barger and Julia Barger;  seven great grandchildren:  Ella, Sophia, Mia, and Aiden Downing, Aletta Stevenson, Mason and Savannah Wood; and sister, Alice McCormick.

Visitation will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home located at 659 Voyager Drive in Alexandria on Thursday, February 15 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria located at 420 Irving Street on Friday, February 16 at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Reverend Father Steve Binsfeld.  Funeral services will be preceded by a visitation at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary.  A luncheon will immediately follow the funeral mass.

Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Jack to Hospice of Douglas County, 809 Elm Street, Suite 1200, Alexandria, MN 56308 (www.hospicedouglascounty.org) whose staff so lovingly cared for him the past twelve months.
