Joyce Hiller

Joyce Hazel Anderson was born July 31, 1917 in Wyanette Township, Isanti County, MN the daughter of Edward and Clara (Lindquist) Anderson. She was raised and schooled in Isanti County. As a young woman Joyce moved to the Twin Cities where she worked for the Honeywell Corp. On September 14, 1940 Joyce was united in marriage to Wellington Hiller. The couple made their home in the Twin Cities. When Wellington entered the service during World War II Joyce moved to Braham, MN to be with her parents. While in Braham the couple was blessed with their only child, Carole. Ten months after Carole?s birth Joyce and Wellington were reunited and returned to the Twin Cities. For thirty years Joyce and Wellington spent time fishing in the Alexandria area. Following Wellington?s death in 1993 Joyce continued to live in the Twin Cities until moving to Rosewood Terrace in Alexandria in 1998 to be closer to her daughter. She later moved to Windmill Ponds and then Clearwater Suites. Joyce and Wellington loved fishing all throughout Minnesota. She enjoyed doing craftwork and served as a Girl Scouts of America leader. She and Wellington also enjoyed going dancing. Especially important to Joyce were her grandchildren; she was a devoted grandmother. On Sunday, February 24, 2008 Joyce died at the age of ninety years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wellington Hiller; and two sisters, Ruby Findell and Laura Nelson. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Carole and husband, Michael Hammond, on east Lake Carlos, MN; two grandchildren, Mark and wife, Cindi Hammond, and Keith and wife, Lynne Hammond; great grandchildren, Leah, Ella, Lexi and Owen Hammond; and her nieces. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Clearwater Suites chapel. Rev. Merlin Bartelt will officiate Kim Byrne will provide music. Interment will be private. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
