Juanita Feigum Balgaard Juanita M. (Jane) Feigum Balgaard was born in Del Rio, Texas on March 30, 1926, the daughter of Ignacio and Juanita (Dono) Moreno. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. She attended school and worked as a seamstress in textile factories prior to meeting Paul Feigum, who was based at the Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio. Paul and Jane were married on November 21, 1955, at the Laughlin Air Force Base. In 1957 they moved to Minneapolis and lived there for five years. In 1963 they moved to the city of Nelson, Minnesota and lived there for 12 years. In 1973 the couple started farming in rural Nelson and continued to do so until they retired in 1990. The couple enjoyed traveling to Texas on many occasions to visit Jane?s family. Paul died in 2001 and Jane moved into the city of Alexandria. On November 30, 2010, Jane was united in marriage to Ronald Balgaard in Alexandria. The couple lived at Bethel Manor. Jane enjoyed dancing and listening to old time music. She enjoyed animals and life on the farm. She often feed the ducks by Lake Winona where she lived. Ronald and Jane enjoyed going out for coffee with friends and spending time with family. Jane died suddenly on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, Minnesota, at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her husband Ronald Balgaard of Alexandria; sisters, Adela Gutierrez of San Antonio, TX, Manuela (Lupe) Diaz of Del Rio, TX, and Lucia (Felipe) Escamilla of Del Rio, TX; brother-in-law, Victor Gutierrez of San Antonio, TX; nephew Raymundo Gutierrez of San Antonio, TX and his daughter, Lisa Gutierrez; and several other nieces and nephews. Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Feigum; brothers, Cleto and Mario Moreno; sisters, Jesusita Gutierrez, Hilda Gutierrez and Virginia Garza; and brothers-in-law, Gabino Gutierrez and Ramon Garza. Also surviving are members of Paul Feigum?s family: brother, Joe (June) Feigum of Fergus Falls; sisters, Dorothy (Darwin) Schmoyer of Golden Valley, Sylvia Davids (and friend Pat Darrington) of Alexandria, and sisters-in-law, Gladys Feigum of Nelson and Mardith Feigum of Alexandria. Deceased members of Paul?s family include his parents Oliver and Mabel; brothers, Norman and Orville Feigum; brother-in-law, Bill Davids; and nephew, Ronald Feigum. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, June 3, 2013, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Alexandria with Rev. Steve Binsfeld officiating. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery with Raymundo Gutierrez, Leslie Feigum, Tim Feigum, David Schmoyer, Dean Kemnitz, Marty Mohagen, Mark Skidmore, Tom VanAlphen and Tim Johnson serving as Casket Bearers. Honorary Casket Bearers included all of Jane?s many friends. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home www.andersonfuneral.net
