Remembering the life of. . . Judith Lynn (Bay) Januszewski Judith Lynn (Bay) Januszewski was born February 22, 1963, in Wadena, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Bernice and Lester Bay. Judy, age 49, passed away at home surrounded by her family on the evening of April 17th. She bravely battled cancer for 11 months. Judy was lovingly cared for by her family, her sister Sue, and hospice. Judy was baptized and confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran church in New York Mills, MN. During her youth she worked at the Wadena County Health Department, the Community Action Council, and the New York Mills High School. In 1981, she graduated from New York Mills High School and attended Moorhead State University. On January 8, 1983, Judy was united in marriage to William (Bill) Januszewski at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Perham, MN. They made their home in Pelican Rapids where they raised three children. In 1984, she became a licensed day care provider and did this for 11 years. She also worked as a clerk at Richter?s Clothing Store, an assistant teacher at Pelican Learning Center, a secretary for a Retirement Advisor Service, Assistant at Caulfield?s studio and did several housekeeping jobs. From 2001 to 2008 Judy worked as a Title I Paraprofessional at Frazee Elementary School. Then in 2008, Bill and Judy moved to Alexandria, MN where Judy worked as a Special-Ed/1st grade paraprofessional at Washington/Woodland Elementary schools. She worked there until May of 2011. While Judy was still in Pelican Rapids, she and her best friend, Wendy, started a wedding decorating business which they ran until Judy?s move to Alexandria. Some of Judy?s favorite hobbies were decorating, shopping, motorcycle rides with Bill, spending time at the lake, camping, taking family trips to various parts of the United States, cooking and baking. Spending time with family and friends is what really made Judy happy. She also enjoyed going on shopping trips with her friends and also her annual deer hunting shopping trip with her daughters and sister, Sue. Going to Hawaii last March was one of her most memorable trips. She expressed several times how blessed she was to have a wonderful marriage and such caring, loving children and beautiful grandchildren. Not to mention her many friends who she loved dearly. Nothing made Judy happier than being with her husband, children and grandchildren. Judy was an active member of the St. Leonard?s Catholic Church in Pelican Rapids for 25 years where she taught religious education for 10 years, was a youth group leader and on the Youth Advisory committee. In 1998, Judy and Bill were named West Otter Tail County Emerging Leaders and they were also Pelican 4-H Club leaders for several years. She also spent many hours volunteering at Viking Elementary in Pelican Rapids. Judy is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Januszewski, Alexandria, MN; children: Angela (Jake) Richter, Renville, MN, Amy (Jason) VanValkenburg, Fargo, ND, Eric Januszewski, Alexandria, MN; grandchildren: Makena and Peyton Richter; parents: Bernice and Lester Bay, New York Mills, MN; sisters: Nancy (George) Mejia, Minneapolis, MN, Susan (Bob) Brenneman, Sauk Rapids, MN; brothers: Bob (Shery) Bay, New York Mills, MN, Jim Bay, St. Louis Park, MN. ; mother-in-law: Arilda Eken, Perham, MN; sister-in-laws: Connie (Steve) Richter, Perham, MN, Nora (Rick) Heinecke, Perham, MN, Mary (Charles) Schornack, New York Mills, MN, Jennifer, (Bob) Schempp, Fargo, ND, Elizabeth (Mike) Urbach, Mankato, MN; brother-in-laws: Greg Januszewski, Henning, MN, Andy (Shelly) Januszewski, Perham, MN, Kevin (Caroline) Januszewski, Sartell, MN, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her niece Jessica Henderson along with father-in-laws, Walter Januszewski and Arvid Eken. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
