Karen A. Rudy

Karen passed away on the 24th of November, 2023 at the age of 81. She was born on the 1st of November, 1942 in Echo, MN. Karen grew up in Belview, MN and graduated from Belview High School before continuing on to Mankato State University where she received her degree in Elementary Education. Karen met Bruce Rudy during their high school years. They were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belview on September 22, 1962. They lived in Farifax until 1968 when they relocated to Sauk Rapids and raised their family. Karen worked as a special education teacher for 3 years followed by several years of substitute teaching. While in Sauk Rapids, she provided day care for numerous families. After their children were grown, she went on to become a financial analyst at Bankers Systems in St Cloud. Bruce and Karen retired to their lake home in Alexandria in 1997.

Above all else, Karen had a strong faith in God and a great love for her family. She loved meeting with her various groups of friends. Karen was always accepting of others and got along with everyone. Karen cherished wintering in Florida and traveling to all 50 states and various other countries. She also enjoyed photography, plants, flowers, quilting, sewing, crafting, fishing, and boat rides. In later years, Karen especially loved going through all of her pictures. Karen was preceded in death by her parents LaVerne and Edna Miller, father and mother-in-law, Ole and Bernice Rudy, and son Jeff Rudy. She leaves behind her husband Bruce of 61 years, daughter-in-law Jane Rudy, son Steve Rudy (Dawn), daughter Lana Moon, and son Scott Rudy. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Erin (Mike) Horn, Kyle Rudy-Kohlhepp, and Rachel Rudy; Tyler and Charley Rudy; Cooper, MacKenna, and Riley Moon; great granddaughter Lottie Rudy, sister Jan (Leroy) Flaata, brother Mike (Alice) Miller, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 11:00 am at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-7:00 pm at Anderson Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
