Karl Timothy Ruud was born on May 22, 1985 in Fergus Falls, MN to Timothy and Sharon (Kohlhase) Ruud. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Amor, MN and confirmed at Shalom Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Karl graduated in 2004 from Jefferson High School in Alexandria. He attended Alexandria Technical College where he earned an AAS degree in carpentry. After graduating college Karl worked as an assistant groundskeeper at Mount Carmel where he worked 5 years. Karl was united in marriage to Andria Garcia on July 10, 2010 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Alexandria. Karl and Andria made their home in Alexandria where Karl was currently working at Progressive Living Solutions and Prairie Community Services as direct care staff and maintenance. Karl was a member of the Western MN Steam Threshers where he enjoyed showing his family tractors. He also was a member of the Freedom Riders where he enjoyed riding his Victory motorcycle with his fellow members. Karl was active and enjoyed volunteering at St. Mary?s Catholic School and was a member also at Shalom Lutheran Church. Karl enjoyed fishing, wakeboarding, riding his motorcycle, bicycling, camping, snowmobiling, weightlifting, running, his dog, Max, and most importantly spending time with his families. He really enjoyed becoming a dad when he married Andria, helping his oldest daughter, Angelica with her homework, explaining so clearly and having patience, and playing with his boys, Aidan and Alex, guiding and teaching them through his love and loyalty. He was really looking forward to Father?s Day. Karl died on Friday, April 1, 2011 at his home in Alexandria at the age of 25. He is survived by his wife, Andria; children, Angelica, Aidan, and Alex Garcia; parents, Tim and Sharon Ruud of Alexandria; mother-in-law, Hope Garcia of Alexandria; maternal grandmother, Betty Kohlhase of Fergus Falls; paternal grandparents, James and Anna mae Ruud of Pelican Rapids; sisters, Amy (Joshua) Klimek and Kristina Ruud both of Alexandria; brothers-in-law Joe Jr. (Nancy) Garcia of Grand Forks and Carlos (Emily) Garcia of Sartell; sister-in-law, Patty Larson of Alexandria; nieces and nephews, Makayla and Natalie Klimek, Jonan, Paige, Chistopher, Collin, and Kaden Garcia; and many cousins. Karl is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Floyd Kohlhase; brother-in-law, Richard Garcia; and father-in-law, Joe Garcia Sr. A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Mount Carmel in Alexandria with Reverend Grant Aaseng and Reverend Steve Binsfeld officiating. Music was provided by pianist Laurie Youngers, and soloist, Kevin Boen. Interment was in Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers were Dan Barber, Jon Barber, David Barber, Nathan Wasvick, Derek Kohlhase, Michael Wasvick, Josh Klimek, and Spencer Paulson. Honorary casket bearers were Angelica, Aidan, Alex, Amy, Kristina, Makayla, Natalie, Tina, Stephanie, Jessica, Jenny, Katie, and all of Karl?s friends. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
