Kathleen Lee

February 24, 1917 — February 24, 1917

Kathleen Josephine (Larsen) Lee was born on February 24, 1917, on a farm in Rose City, Minnesota. She attended a country school near her home. However, during that time she was required to stay home and help care for her baby sister. Kathleen was united in marriage to Lawrence E. Lee on June 23, 1934 at the Assembly of God Church in Alexandria, Minnesota. Born to this union were two daughters: LaVonne and Carolyn. In her early years Kathleen was employed by Alma Anderson as a bakery assistant, she also worked at the Darling Ranch Resort and volunteered in the Beauty Shop at Bethany Home. Kathleen and Lawrence and Kathleen farmed for many years and later managed the Floding Resort on Lake Brophy for 26 years. The couple retired in 1989 and moved to their home in Alexandria. ?Katy? and Lawrence always welcomed everyone into their home. The coffee pot and goodies were always available. Katy is known for the delicious buns she would make and they were often referred to as ?Katy buns.? She enjoyed baking and cooking good Scandinavian dishes, sewing giving perms and setting hair, gardening and helping at her church. She was active in teaching Sunday School, was involved in the Women?s Missionary Group and visited many shut-ins at the nursing homes. She was a friend to everyone. Kathleen moved to GoldenRidge Senior Care in March of 2008. She went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the age of 96. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws: LaVonne & Merrill Atwater of New Hope, MN, Carolyn & Marly Johnson of Henning, MN; grandchildren: Todd & Karla Atwater, Shelly & Brian Gilbert, Sherry & Patrick Bania, Cory, Tyler, Lee and Kayla Johnson; nine great grandchildren: Kayla, Tim, Kaleb & Travis Atwater, Ashley & Lauren Gilbert, Justin & Kyle Bania, Ella Johnson and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Lawrence of 61 years; parents, Axel & Betty Larsen; brothers: Axel, Stanley, Edgar Larsen; sisters: Margit Garrison, Ione DeLong. The family wishes to thank the many wonderful caregivers of GoldenRidge Senior Care and Hospice for their love and support. Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 2:00 PM at Berea Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home. ?To The Caregivers at GoldenRidge Senior Care: This home we chose was for our mother. It was to be; for as we looked there was no other. It was her home away from home, this we often told her; but many times she?d question that just wondering where we were. We thank you at Golden Ridge for giving of your all; for the patience that you had; to hear ?say? that was your call. So know you did your very best; you gave your care and love. You can depend on one sure thing; you?ll be blessed from God above.
