Kathleen Agnes Homan was born July 26, 1926 in Marshall, MN, the daughter of Charles and Cecelia (Schmitt) Homan. She attended school at Marshall. Following her schooling Kathleen helped her parents on the farm.
On December 26, 1944 Kathleen was united in marriage to William Spindler at St Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley, MN. The couple was blessed with four children. Kathleen and William farmed for several years in Browns Valley. In 1967 they moved to Alexandria where William began work at 3M. Kathleen was a homemaker.
Kathleen was a member of the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria and also was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Kathleen enjoyed fishing; she fished in the winter when she was younger and loved fishing in the summer.
She and William enjoyed traveling. She liked to go camping and take bus tours. She loved to sit down and have coffee with her neighbors; she loved to visit. Most important to Kathleen was her family. Spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild, filling them with fresh baked chocolate chip cookies was the best.
On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, Kathleen died at the age of eighty-nine years. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Spindler; one grandson, Jeremy Spindler; and twelve brothers and sisters. Kathleen is survived by her children, James Spindler and wife, Judy, of Zimmerman, MN, Marie Gartner and husband, Thomas, of Glenwood, MN, Marlys Schlangen and husband, Patrick, of Richmond, MN and Ritchie Spindler and wife, Charity, of Alexandria; eleven grandchildren ; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and three brothers, Sylvester, Eugene and Jacob Homan.
