Kathryn “Katie” Korf was born on November 29, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Korf. The family moved to Grand Forks in 1928 where Katie graduated from St. James Academy in 1945. She attended two years at the College of St. Benedicts in St. Joe, Minnesota.
Kathryn worked at St. Michaels Hospital in Grand Forks until 1961 as a Nurse’s Aide and then moved to Alexandria where she worked at Mercy Hospital until it closed. Katie also worked at Knute Nelson and Parkers Prairie doing rehab work.
She also enjoyed teaching ceramic classes which she did for six years out of her home. She enjoyed playing cards, doing word puzzles, embroidery, knitting, jigsaw puzzles and traveling.
Katie died on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Knute Nelson Care Center. She is survived by friends Ginny Kluver & family, Lou Brinkman & family, Sharon Ruud, Gary Klobes.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Elizabeth.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Melrose.
