Katsuko Carothers, the daughter of Kinuko and Katsusiro Noda, was born on May 4, 1949 in Sasebo, Japan.
In 1981, Katsuko met the love of her life, Robert Carothers while he was stationed in Sasebo, Japan with the United States Navy. They were united in marriage on July 21, 1982 at the American Consulate in Sasebo, Japan. Together they moved to the United States where they lived in San Diego, CA and Rock Island, IL. After 20 years in Rock Island, Katsuko and Bob decided to move back to Minnesota and bought a home in Alexandria twelve years ago.
Katsuko was a caring and outgoing woman, who loved to garden, crotchet, and sew. She was an excellent cook and her specialty was authentic Japanese meals. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Katsuko Carothers died on her 70th birthday, Saturday, May 4, 2019 at her home with her loving husband of 37 years at her side. She is survived by her husband Robert Carothers of Alexandria, special pet companions, Koko and Pixie; 3 brothers, 2 sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death her parents, a sister, brother-in-law and a sister-n-law.
A Celebration of Katsuko’s life was held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Anderson Funeral Home. She will buried at a later date in her homeland of Sasebo, Japan.
